When is the best time to visit Vietnam’s Halong Bay?

Both Hanoi and Halong Bay climate share the same typical humid & tropical monsoon weather. While the South of Vietnam has only two seasons (rain and dry season), Halong has 4 seasons with its own weather features.

October to December (Fall) is the best time to visit Halong Bay and peak season thanks to the pleasant weather and low chance of rain, though you can expect double the crowds.

While June to September (Summer) is the low season and has a higher chance of storms and typhoons.

Book a flight ticket to Van Don International Airport or Ha Long Airport, which is an airport in Van Don District of Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, home to World Heritage Ha Long Bay. It is located about 50 km away from Ha Long and 20 km from Cam Pha. It is the first private airport in Vietnam, built and operated by Sun Group, a local company.

By Seaplane (Fastest)

Catching a seaplane is easily the most special, and most amazing, way to get to Halong Bay from Hanoi. It’s also the fastest way to get to Halong Bay.

It has the added bonus that it offers spectacular aerial views of the bay. A seaplane trip can be booked through the Hai Au Aviation’s website or alternatively, travelers can contact their cruise provider to see if there are any packages available which include a seaplane flight. The plane departs from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and arrives in Tuan Chau Cruise port in Halong Bay. Once arrived, you can take a Grab taxi (similar to Uber) or regular taxi to your final destination.
